CricketPandit

Uttar Pradesh captain Sameer Rizvi showcased his explosive talent on Saturday by breaking the record for the fastest fifty in the men’s Under-23 State A trophy. He made history during the match against Tripura in Vadodara.

Rizvi scored a remarkable double hundred off just 97 balls, hitting 13 fours and an astonishing 29 sixes. In List A cricket, the record for the fastest double hundred still belongs to New Zealand’s Chad Bowes, who achieved it in 103 balls.

Coming in to bat in the 23rd over, Rizvi’s 201-run innings propelled Uttar Pradesh to a total of 405 runs in their 50 overs. In response, Tripura managed only 253 runs in their second innings, leading to a comfortable victory for Uttar Pradesh by 152 runs.

This isn’t the first time Rizvi has made headlines in the U-23 league. The explosive batsman has previously scored two impressive knocks of 153 and 137 and is currently the highest run-scorer in the competition with 518 runs. Uttar Pradesh is also performing well in Group C, having won 4 out of their 6 matches and maintaining a solid net run rate of 1.647.

Who is Sameer Rizvi?

Sameer Rizvi gained recognition after being acquired by Chennai Super Kings for ₹8.4 crore in the IPL 2024 mega auctions. However, the young talent struggled to make an impact for MS Dhoni’s team, scoring only 51 runs in 8 matches. In this year’s mega auction, Rizvi was picked up by Delhi Capitals for ₹95 lakh.
