Ryan Rickelton’s Record-Breaking Performance: A New Era for South African Test Cricket
CricketPanditRyan Rickelton made history by becoming the first South African batter to score a Test double century in nine years during the second Test against Pakistan in Cape Town on Saturday. The left-handed batsman achieved this milestone off 266 balls, marking the first double hundred by a South African since Hashim Amla did it in 2016.
He opened the innings alongside Aiden Markram and formed a massive 235-run partnership with captain Temba Bavuma for the fourth wicket, putting South Africa firmly in control. Rickelton, who debuted in Test cricket in 2022, scored his first hundred in the format against Sri Lanka in December. He was also acquired by the Mumbai Indians for Rs. 1 crore during the IPL auction in November.
